If you want to watch birds, the National park Podyjí-Thayatal is the right place for you. For example a red kite, which can be seen in the picture on the right (from the archives of the National park Podyjí-Thayatal). At present, these birds are being investigated by a Czech-Austrian team of scientists.
„Young birds In several nests were equipped with transmitters. It is still too early to evaluate the results, but we already know that one of the supervised young ones died tragically after having swallowed poisoned lures at Hostěradice in early October, “reports ornitologist Vlasta Škorpíková.
In all likelihood, you can also see an eagle in the National park. This can be for example a sea eagle. „The quiet, deep valley of the river near Vranov nad Dyjí is a popular area for mostly young birds. Some spend the whole winter here. A couple of them have successfully bred in the woods between Vranovská Ves and Boskovštejn this year,“ says Vlasta Škorpíková.
There are even some Eastern imperial eagles or golden eagles to be seen. You may also observe a buteo or a common kestrel.
