Podyjí-Thayatal National Park and the Vranov region – bike routes for everyone
The bike routes on both the Czech and the Austrian side of the Podyjí-Thayatal National Park are very well connected. Plan your route well and you can practically bike through the entire national park, along the banks of the river Thaya. We also offer four interesting Czech-Austrian round-trips: the “Fairy Tales and Myths” cycling route, the “Wine Region” cycling route, the “Podyjí National Park” cycling route and the “Sechsstädte” cycling route. All routes are signposted with pictograms. The cycling trails of the Czech Hiking Club are marked with their typical signs – a coloured stripe between two yellow ones. The signposted routes for cyclists within the Podyjí-Thayatal national park are, altogether, nearly 50 km long.
When biking, you do not have to limit yourself to the national park. There are also many interesting bike routes in the region west of Vranov nad Dyjí. For example, a nice route begins near the dam in Vranov nad Dyjí and leads through the villages of Cornštejn and Bítov to the villages of Uherčice and Vratěnín and back over Podhradí nad Dyjí (bike route Vranov). The tours can also be combined with the newly marked Eurovelo 13 route, which leads towards the village Drossendorf in Austria or back in the opposite direction over Šafov. The connection is always in the village Uherčice.
